Reproducing forint banknotes and coins
Reproductions include physical (tangible) or virtual (not tangible) representations that give the appearance of a banknote or coin, made by reproducing a banknote or a coin or any part or certain graphic elements thereof.
It is prohibited to produce or to order the production of any reproductions which may give rise to confusion with any banknotes or coins.
Pursuant to Article 30(1) of Act CCVIII of 2011 on the Magyar Nemzeti Bank, any reproductions of forint banknotes and coins in circulation (including commemorative banknotes and coins) may only be produced in accordance with the provisions laid down in the applicable Decree of the President of the MNB.
The detailed rules applicable to reproductions of forint banknotes and coins are laid down respectively in the MNB Decree 2/2010 (I. 28.) and MNB Decree 3/2010 (I. 28.) .
The production and use of reproductions are also subject to the provisions of the Copyright Act.
The MNB, which owns the economic copyright and the exploitation rights pursuant to Act III 1969, in effect formerly, of the forint banknotes defined in the document entitled ‘Declaration of assent by the copyright owner to forint banknote reproductions permissible without authorisation’, consents to the utilisation of forint banknote reproductions not requiring authorisation.
