Public consultation on the MNB decrees to be issued concerning reproductions of forint and euro banknotes and the reproductions of forint and euro coins
Pursuant to Article 34(1) of Act LVIII of 2001 on the Magyar Nemzeti Bank any reproductions of the Hungarian legal tender, i.e. forint banknotes and coins in circulation (including commemorative banknotes and coins) may only be produced in accordance with the provisions laid down in the Decree of the Governor of the MNB. Furthermore, issues related to the reproduction of the euro not governed by EU law shall also be regulated by the Governor of the MNB (with the exception of the rules on sanctions).
The rules on reproductions are currently regulated by MNB Decree 1/2006 (II.15) on reproductions of Hungarian legal tender and the euro. Having reviewed the provisions of the actual decree, the MNB has decided to renew the regulation.
