Report on Inflation

From 2011, the publication scheme of the Quarterly Report on Inflation has changed. In the future the Report will be prepared in March,  June, September and December and be made available solely in electronic format, with each issue structured in the same way. In line with international best practice, the Report will be published at 10 a.m. two days after the Monetary Council’s interest rate-setting meeting.

The aim of the Report is to present past and expected developments in inflation and to provide detailed assessments of the key macroeconomic factors driving inflation.

Report on Financial Stability

The Magyar Nemzeti Bank will publish the Report on Financial Stability at least once a year, in April, and be made available in electronic format. The financial stability report focuses on the analysis of long-term trends and the foreseeable evaluation of risks.

Report on Convergence

In November 2005 the Magyar Nemzeti Bank published the Report on Convergence for the first time. Although in Hungary it is the government that is primarily responsible for elaborating and implementing the obligatory Convergence Programme, the Magyar Nemzeti Bank is playing an important role in carrying it out, primarily in the areas of monetary and exchange rate policy. For this reason the central bank continually appraises the progress of the convergence process and Hungary’s readiness to join the euro.

With its electronic publication, the MNB wishes to help make decision-makers, experts and the broader public better informed about participating in monetary union and the frequently complex issues involved.

Working Papers

Since 2005 the Magyar Nemzeti Bank has issued the main results of research in a series of papers only in English and in electronic format. The Working Papers contain studies intended primarily for academics, analysts and researchers interested in the central bank and other fields. Starting in autumn 2005, the bank has published this series on the recommendation of an expert editorial board.

MNB Occasional Papers

In Autumn 2005 the Magyar Nemzeti Bank continued publishing its analyses in the series  MNB Occasional Papers, combining the former Background Studies and Occasional Papers series. The series be made in electornic format. The studies present the results of research of a practical, applied nature, show the means of analysis for decision-making at the central bank, and describe some of the major structural elements at the bank.
