Budapest Economic Seminar Series (BESS) at MNB
This seminar series is organized in cooperation with Central European University, a leading research and teaching institution in the region. Our objective is to link academic and central banking research, thus we are particularly looking for topics which are appealing both to a policymaking and an academic audience. Presentations are typically scheduled for the afternoon of every second Wednesday.
Macroeconomic Policy Research Workshop
The aim of the workshop is to bring together academically-oriented researchers from central banks and academics working on the topic.
The 2008 workshop is on productivity, trade and development, covering the following topics: (1) the role of productivity growth vs factor accumulation in convergence; (2) within and between sector reallocation; (3) relative prices and productivity growth; (4) international linkages (trade and productivity); (5) estimating TFP growth from micro and macro data; (6) barriers to technology adoption (institutions, taxation and productivity).
The 2008 workshop is organized jointly with the CEPR.
Previous meetings focused on labor markets, wage behavior and inflation dynamics (2007), micro behavior and monetary policy (2006), the interactions between the exchange rate and the real economy (2005), on the monetary transmission mechanism in the new and old members of the EU (2004), on the effect of real exchange rates on macroeconomic stability (2003) and on theoretical and empirical approaches to the question of inflation targeting (2002).
